Bow History

Bow, a town in Merrimack County, was incorporated in 1727. It was one of the many towns formed to ease the population pressure of Seacoast. It is said that the town came to be known as Bow because of its establishment in the form of an arch in the Merrimack River. One of the first settlements in the town was known as Bow Mills. This section comprises the Sawmill and Gristmill.
