Ridgeland History
Ridgeland was originally known as Turner Brashear's Stand. In the early years of its existence, the place has been known under various names. Edward Treakle and Gordon Nichols, who were two real estate developers from Chicago, bought the land from Yellowley. With the purchased land, these real estate developers established the Highland Colony. It was at this time that plans were made to have a town named Ridgeland.

Ridgeland Plaza Shopping Center, Oak Plaza Shopping Center and North Park Mall are great havens for shopaholics. Rick's Recreation Center is a very popular tourist attraction.
