Ridgeland, Mississippi, in Madison county, is located 9 miles N of Jackson, Mississippi (center to center) and is 171 miles N of New Orleans, Louisiana. The city is considered part of the Jackson metropolitan area and has a population of 20,173.

Ridgeland History

Ridgeland was originally known as Turner Brashear's Stand. In the early years of its existence, the place has been known under various names. Edward Treakle and Gordon Nichols, who were two real estate developers from Chicago, bought the land from Yellowley. With the purchased land, these real estate developers established the Highland Colony. It was at this time that plans were made to have a town named Ridgeland.

The Old Trace Park also offers a host of recreational facilities. Another notable attraction that must not be missed is the Old Capitol Museum. Ridgeland hosts the Red Hot Red Hat Weekend, and Renaissance Fine Arts Festival every year.
