In 1886 -1887, Disston established the St. Cloud sugarcane plantation. This plantation was named after St. Cloud, Minnesota. However, the plantation was ruined during the Great Freeze of 1894-1895. On June 1, 1915 St. Cloud was incorporated by the Florida Legislature.
