Located in Gadsden county, Quincy, Florida, is 21 miles NW of Tallahassee, Florida (center to center) and 176 miles W of Jacksonville, Florida. The city is located in the Tallahassee metropolitan area. Quincy has a population of 6,982 residents.

Quincy History

The area known as Quincy holds a seat on Gadsden county, established in the year 1823. The county was named in honor of James Gadsden of South Carolina, who served as Florida's aide-de-camp in the year 1818. The city of Quincy was named in honor of John Quincy Adams. The community used to be a busy tobacco center; however, by the 1960s the industry declined. The patrons of one of the cities' local banks became extremely successful when they bought stock in the Coca-Cola Company, which at the time was a small company.
