Perry History

The city of Perry holds a seat on Taylor county. The town was named in honor of Edward A. Perry, a General in the American Civil War and also the fourteenth Governor of Florida. Taylor county was founded in the year 1856, and was named in honor of Zachary Taylor, the twelfth president of the United States who served as president from 1849 to 1851. The community of Perry is home to the Forest Capital State Museum.
