Panama City Beach History
Bay county was established in the year 1913 after being proposed when representatives from five towns met in Panama City to a name for a proposed county. With the joint approval of the majority of citizens, the county was named 'Bay County' and formed soon after; it was created by the legislature from parts of Calhoun, Washington, and Walton counties. It is also said that a small community of Indians used to inhabit the St. Andrew Bay area in the 1800s. Panama City Beach is popular for being home to 'The World's Most Important Beaches'.
