Miami Springs History

The city of Miami Springs was founded by Glen Hammond Curtiss, who was a pioneer in the aviation industry and is also a well respected name in land development. The area which is currently known as Miami Springs was used as a “bombing range” for training U.S. pilots in World War I. Curtiss bought this area and developed it as a residential community. He named it Country Club Estates. The name Miami Springs was given to the city in 1930.
