Longwood, Florida, in Seminole county, is 11 miles N of Orlando, Florida (center to center) and 85 miles NE of Tampa, Florida. Part of the surrounding Orlando metro area, Longwood is home to some 13,745 residents.

Longwood History

The initial settlers of the area that would become Longwood came around early 1870s. John Neil Searcy who came in March of 1873, and Edward Warren Henck who came in November. They began developing a small community in this area. It was Henck who decided on the name ‘Longwood’ for the area. He also became the first mayor of Longwood in 1885. Longwood was incorporated as a city in 1923.
