Introduction to Lantana, Florida
Lantana, Florida is 4 miles N of Boynton Beach, Florida (center to center) and 56 miles N of Miami, Florida. It is located in Palm Beach and is included within the West Palm Beach - Boca Raton metro area. The population of Lantana is 9,437.
Lantana History
The first settlers arrived in Lantana after the 1842 Armed Occupation Act, and the Lyman family founded the town in 1888. Within a year, Lyman, an extremely enterprising man, established several businesses including a general store, a post office and an Indian trading post. He named the post office Lantana Point after the wild Lantana plants that grew there. The town was incorporated in 1921.
