Lake Park, Florida, in Palm Beach county, is 5 miles N of West Palm Beach, Florida (center to center) and 71 miles N of Miami, Florida. The town, which is included in the West Palm Beach - Boca Raton metropolitan area, had 8,721 residents as of the 2000 census.

Lake Park History

The town of Lake Park, formerly known as Kelsey City, was Florida’s first zoned municipality. It was planned and designed by John Charles and Frederick Jr of Olmsted Brothers, and Dr. John Nolan of Boston from Massachusetts. In 1927, the Lake Park Town Hall was constructed. It was also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It survived the hurricane of 1928, during which it provided shelter to some of the towns residents.
