Introduction to Casselberry, Florida
Casselberry, Florida, in Seminole county, is 10 miles N of Orlando, Florida (center to center) and 85 miles NE of Tampa, Florida. The city is included in the Orlando metropolitan area. As of the year 2000 census, 22,629 people lived in Casselberry.
Casselberry History
Casselberry was originaly populated by Native Americans before the arrival of European settlers in 1800s. Gordon J. Barnett from New York arrived at Altamonte Springs in 1925. He went on to open his own fernery in the area. He followed it with a housing development project named Fern Park Estates at the western side of Lake Concord. Hibbard Casselberry arrived in 1926 and started working with Barnett. He contributed significantly in the development of this area. In 1940 Casselberry was incorporated as a tax free town. Hibbard was named as the first mayor. Casselberry was reincorporated in 1965 as a city.

Casselberry is full of open spaces; it has 16 parks and more than 20 lakes. These places are great for relaxation. There are restaurants that cater to a wide range of tastes ranging from American and Mexican to Greek, Chinese, and even Italian and German. The Parks and Recreation department regularly organizes a variety of programs for adults as well as kids.
