Carol City, Florida

Introduction to Carol City, Florida

Carol City is a community located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Situated about 12 miles north of Miami, the community was originally named "Coral City" by developers. Threat of a lawsuit by the nearby city of Coral Gables caused a last-minute switch to the name of Carol City. In 2003 the majority of Carol City, along with parts of other small communities such as Andover, Bunche Park, Lake Lucerne, Norland, Opa-Locka North, and Scott Lake, voted to incorporate as the city of Miami Gardens.
